Recruiting Costs Decrease More Than Hiring

Staffing 2009 has been updated to include data through May 2009 and is available for immediate download in the Institute store. Previous buyers will receive the updated edition at no cost. 

This, the biggest and most valid U.S. staffing research indicates that total compensation recruited through May has decrease by 7% compared to the first five months of 2008 which was similarly down compared to 2007.

Total internal staffing expenses are down 5%, external over 22% and combined they’re down over 13% driving more than a one point efficiency increase to 86.1%.  Recruiting efficiency increased for every industry except government, the only employer group to become less efficient. Pharmaceutical efficiency improved the least to 74.2%. Electronics improved the most, by 1.7 points to 81.1%.

There has been no significant change in hiring manager satisfaction, time or new hire quality.
